Various approaches to using 16mm film and camera, in the darkroom and on the field, question the possibilities of the cinematic image. The image is treated as a medium of representation while simultaneously critically examining representation and the process of creating the image itself. Through constant repetition, multiplication, and copying in the darkroom, the images on the film strip transform into a flow of textured light, cinematic perforations, and images of time, whose changes reveal their intrinsic properties.
I am intrigued by elusive, distant yet simultaneously close, flickering shades of color—shades that blend, solarize, and build a new narrative. I am fascinated by color as an experience and by color as a degree of darkness. How can these elusive flickering shades, which appear and disappear with the presence or absence of light, influence a particular structure or theme? If color is a degree of darkness, how does it flicker, and in what ways can it flicker?
