The Distance We Share

2024

performance: 60'

In collaboration with Tin Dožić

The performance is attempt for the performative possibilities of an exhibition and the construction of an exhibition as a performance. They contemplate the work as an intermedia hybrid, where a classical exhibition (focused on objects) becomes a platform for performative practice. The exhibition space becomes a laboratory in which the fluidity of forms is manifested and explored, never fully taking shape and constantly shifting from one form and medium to another. They question whether the work can come to life in a different way and whether such an exhibition, with its own transience, emphasizes the poetics of physical processes it speaks of.

The tactic employed by the artist and the artist is physical experimentation and processing of materials live, accompanied by simultaneous sound amplification of these materials. With this approach, they aim to achieve a unique "concert" of the materials themselves, evolving as they come into being and disappear. The research incorporates various technological processes, chemical and physical experiments, as well as physical and mechanical (DIY) solutions into artistic approaches and principles. These approaches, through various experiments and perspectives, question themselves and manifest as they are. The artists emphasize a multisensory experience, and the work emerges through visual, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, and haptic channels of perception. The space becomes a dynamic workshop, laboratory, dance floor, or experiential stage of substances, materials, and people.
