The Distance We Share

2024

performance: 60'

exhibition: wax, resin, fire, DIY solar panels, slide projections, digital projections, lenses, earth bateries, sound

In collaboration with Tin Dožić

The elements in the space are remnants of the performance The Distance, We Share. Some were already used in previous performances by Knez and Dožić, while others are new. All have been reworked and relocated into a new context.

The space is filled with a sound recording of reprocessed audio from the performance, where wax and resin were melted live. Slides are illuminated with light, and various lenses in front of them distort the analog images, giving them a new dimension. DIY earthen batteries transmit live sound that cannot be influenced.

The artist question whether an exhibition can even be the residue of something "alive." They question whether it is even possible to transfer the transformation of materials they perform in front of an audience without losing its essence. And what this new image can communicate.
