performance: 210'
live sound, cooking and serving, role-play game, tasks for participants
In the gallery space, a failed fine dining culinary experience took place. The performance was closed to the public, with only ten seats available for the "selected" participants, who immersed themselves in a three-hour sensory experience. Through the gestures of cooking, smells and sounds, reading menu stories, exchanging objects, and changing scenography between courses, as well as through the verbal and gestural moments of the performers, we questioned the codes of cultural and social norms and behaviors during cultural events, humorously exploring parallels with high-end fine dining and cultural happenings.
Before entering the space, visitors signed an agreement in which they committed to the conditions "required" by the performance. They took on roles with various social statuses, which they drew at random, and through role-playing "performed" the entire experience.
This is the first attempt at incorporating food and its consumption in my work. I see the potential for a multi-year investigation in this project, which would evolve through various materials, media, and approaches, continually shifting and opening up new perspectives.
