What does it mean to learn, to find one’s way through something new and unfamiliar, to listen and to articulate? What does amateur performance tell us, and how does it shape forms of expression that disappear with professionalization? The film examines the boundaries between documentary, fiction, and experimental elements, which are intertwined both with one another and in relation to what happens in front of and behind the camera—the relationship between the cinematographer and the camera, between the cinematographer and the filmed subject, and between the filmed subject and the cinematographer.
