Parallel flows
2023
exhibition: wax and resin objects, 16mm film, HD vide, light object, water
The project Parallel Flows is based on years of research into a specific site, a remote natural area connected to the artist through family history and memory. The starting point of the process is a personal need to explore invisible shapes and forms, inaudible sounds, the significance, beauty, and danger of touch, which the artist relates to her own body.
As part of this long-term project, an installation intertwining image, light, and mechanical objects. On one hand, the artist explores and documents the transformations of natural materiality, as well as the imprints of human traces on that materiality. On the other hand, she processes materials from the site in her studio, examining their characteristics, following their nature, and organizing them in ways that create new comparisons and connections—between the materials themselves, between them and her, between them and the objects that generate them, and between them and the spaces in which they exist.
The artist is drawn to changes, the creation of new forms, heterogeneity, and processes over time, which are no longer merely tools for representation but, through their interplay, reveal what is in some way hidden.
